A. Modern Piper aircraft from the Trumanair Fleet.
Q. Do I have to become a member of the Trumanair Flying School
?
A.Yes - After your first introductory lesson.
Q. Are there any age limits to learn to fly ?
A. Yes - you must be at least 16 to fly solo, but there is no
upper age limit for a private pilot.
Q. Is a special medical examination required ?
A. Yes. Your flight medical is easily arranged with a local
doctor.
Q. Do I need any special educational qualifications ?
A. No.
Q. Will I need any special clothing ?
A. No - Our aircraft are equipped with heating &
ventilation systems.
Q. Do I have to pay any money in advance ?
A. No - There is no obligation, but you may make an advance
deposit with interest to your account if you wish.
Q. Do I have to pay the full hourly rate for each lesson ?
A. No - You only pay a proportion according to the length of
the flight.
Q. Once I have a licence, how do I keep it valid ?
A. Maintain a valid medical certificate and fly 12 hours in
last 13 months.
Q. Do I have to travel away for examinations ?
A. No - Trumanair has a resident approved examiner.
Q. Who conducts the flying lessons ?
A. A fully qualified flying instructor on Trumanair staff.
Q. Are there club room facilities available for members ?
A. Yes - A well equipped lounge and coffee shop is open all
weekend.
Q. Do I have to pay anything in the event of a cancelled
lesson ?
A. No - Normally a telephone call can re-arrange your booking

Q. Will flying affect my life insurance policy ?
A. Maybe - you are advised to consult your agent.
Q. Do I have to do aerobatics on the course ?
A. No.
Q. How long is it before I can fly solo ?
A. It varies between about 10 & 18 hours of tuition.
Q. How do I book my flying lessons ?
A. Call in or telephone - we operate 7 days a week.
Q. Do I take the course within a set time ?
A. No - you may learn at your own pace.
Q. Are there any special books for home study ?
A. Yes - Vol 1 Flying Training + Vols 2-7 Ground Training.
Q. Does previous flying instruction experience count towards
my licence ?
A. Yes - depending upon individual circumstances.
Q. When qualified can I take my friends flying ?
A. Yes - you can hire our touring aircraft or purchase one of
our new models.
